What is Danish paper cord?

Danish paper cord is tightly twisted kraft paper wrapped around a natural fiber core, then handwoven across the seat. It is significantly stronger than it sounds — the weave across this chair uses over 100 meters of cord, creating a surface that is firm, breathable, and resilient under sustained use. The double-sided visible weave means it looks as considered from underneath as from above.

How strong is the joinery?

The frame uses mortise-and-tenon joints throughout. This is the oldest and most mechanically reliable woodworking joint, where one piece fits directly into a cavity cut into another, creating a structural lock that does not rely on glue alone.
