The two back cushions hang from the panel on short buckled leather straps rather than fixed in place. Saddlery detailing borrowed straight from harness work, and the reason the headboard reads as assembled rather than upholstered.

Continuous Walnut Frame

A single closed rectangle of solid walnut surrounds the headboard, its corners curved so the grain runs uninterrupted through the bend. No visible joints, no hardware, no break in the line.

Suspended Leather Panel

The tan panel hangs inside the frame with open gaps above and below it, so the headboard never touches the wall as a solid mass. Light passes through, and the frame reads as a drawn outline rather than a block.

Splayed Walnut Legs

Four sculpted legs angle outward from beneath the platform, each tapering as it reaches the floor. They lift the leather frame clear of the ground and give the bed its stance.
