An Ever-Growing Commitment
More than 35 years ago, our founders made a promise to honor and protect the Earth—the home we all share—in everything we do. Today, we are as committed to that pledge as ever, and we invite you to join us on our journey.
Covering just one percent of the Earth’s surface, the rainforests of Indonesia are home to an astounding amount of vegetation and wildlife—10% of the world’s plants, 16% of reptiles and amphibians, 17% of birds, and 12% of mammals, including the critically endangered orangutan, clouded leopard, and pygmy elephant.
Yet, these vital ecosystems are disappearing at an alarming rate due to deforestation, primarily driven by agricultural expansion and illegal logging. Every day, thousands of acres are lost, which not only threatens biodiversity but also accelerates climate change by releasing stored carbon. These rainforests are essential to maintaining the global climate and supporting thousands of species that cannot survive elsewhere.

Every day, thousands of acres are lost, which not only threatens biodiversity but also accelerates climate change by releasing stored carbon. These rainforests are essential to maintaining the global climate and supporting thousands of species that cannot survive elsewhere.
The consequences are severe: as forests are lost, so too are the species that call them home. And as the climate warms, every ecosystem in the world feels the effects.

Our Pledge for One Million Trees
Since 2017, we’ve been working with American Forests, the nation’s oldest conservation organization, to support large-scale reforestation efforts across the United States. Together, we’ve already planted hundreds of thousands of trees, and we’re committed to reaching our goal of one million trees by 2030.
This initiative is about more than just planting trees. It’s about improving water quality, providing habitat for wildlife, supporting local communities, and helping to mitigate climate change. By working with American Forests, we’re taking a hands-on approach to creating a more sustainable, thriving planet.

Our $10 Million Commitment to Forest Protection
At Sohnne®, we understand that real change requires more than just words — it requires meaningful steps. That’s why we've made a $10 million donation to protect 54,000 acres of rainforest in East Kalimantan, Borneo — roughly the size of Cleveland, our hometown.
This investment directly supports the preservation of critical habitats that are home to endangered species, such as the orangutan and clouded leopard, and helps combat climate change by preventing further deforestation. By safeguarding these forests, we are taking tangible action to protect biodiversity and contribute to the health of our planet’s ecosystems.
Through this donation, we are actively participating in a larger, ongoing effort to secure a sustainable future for both the rainforest and the communities that depend on its resources.

Minimal Waste, Maximum Efficiency
At Sohnne®, we believe great furniture begins with responsible material sourcing. That’s why we carefully select premium leathers from reputable tanneries, sustainable fabrics from leaders like Kvadrat® and Maharam®, and FSC®-certified wood from responsibly managed forests. Every material is chosen to balance beauty, durability, and environmental responsibility, ensuring our designs stand the test of time while reducing their footprint.
We also integrate eco-conscious innovations throughout our production process. From cold-molded foam with low VOC emissions to recycled aluminum frames and packaging, we continually seek ways to minimize waste and energy use. Non-toxic finishes such as water-based lacquers and plant-based oils provide lasting protection without harmful emissions. Together, these choices reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability—creating furniture that is as responsible as it is timeless.

Our Goals
Looking ahead, we are committed to raising the bar even higher. By 2030, our goal is to source 100% of our wood and fabrics from certified sustainable suppliers, increase the use of post-consumer recycled materials by 50%, and reduce our overall carbon footprint per product by 30%. These targets guide every decision we make, ensuring that our dedication to design excellence goes hand in hand with care for the planet.
